All Change

Hello.

Well, its been a long time since I have posted on this blog but thats about to change...

For various reasons, all of which I am not going to go into publicly, I have decided not to continue posting details of my modelling on RMWeb but instead focus my posting on this blog instead. As I said, I am not going to go into details on my reasons for this but instead if anyone is mildly interested then request that you contact me directly where I will explain in more detail.

So, if you are interested (for some weird reason) in what I am doing, then please bookmark this blog and you will be able to keep track of what I have been upto.

Regards.

Julia :o)

  1. Hi Julia

To be honest I'm surprised you stuck it out as long a you did. Your style o actual modelling doesn't really appeal to the 'look at he latest shiny thin I just brought' mentality that seems to be all prevailing these days.

Despite what it's members think RMweb is not THE hobby, it's jus a part of it and it's a lot more insignificant part of it than they realise.

Il certainly be following your exploits on here

    Cheers

    Jim

    1. Agreed Jim. Could be even worse, someone bemoaning the lack of an r-t-r intercity liveried 87. My response; detail and repaint one and if you can't, now's chance to learn. It's like you speak another language.

    3. Isn't that the way of the world these days though? I want it and I want it now but I'm not prepared to make an effort to get it.

    4. Sorry for my very, very, very, late reply, Jim. As it turned out I wasn't, they just came across as bemused by my response. "Paint isn't my thing" or words to that effect. It seems so sad that people react like that to modelling. Learning painting techniques with a brush or airbrush was one of the most interesting things I learned to do.

  2. Thanks Jim.

Sadly I have to agree with you on that. Once I have figured out how to do it I would love to link to your stuff somehow.

  3. Hi Julia.
Wish you continued wellness and success in your modelling. I noticed you have posted that you may be leaving that forum and that everyone will be sorry to see you go . Of course they will because you are yet another star in the firmament who has chosen to move on to a more comfortable place.

Aalthough I have never been a 2 Miller I have always appreciated your philosophy in approaching your modelling, which occasionally brings "out of the box" methods into play.

Please carry on with what you are doing; but more importantly jeep scribbling here.

Thanks again and yes; you clearly understand that the Warners forum is actually only a small part of the hobby despite what some people think. For what it is worth; I didn't ask Andy York to delete my postings when I walked away so you might still see "guest Phil" on the forum.

    Regards
    Phil

I think its about time you gave 2mm a go! Im not going to publish the reasons why online but I understand your sentiments regarding the forum. Fingers crossed people will take the time to check this blog too. I promise to keep it up to date with my modelling exploits.

  4. I did wonder why you ignored your blog for so long, but glad to see you're resurrecting it, it means that I can keep an eye on your work without looking 'over there'! RMweb ain't really a modellers forum any more I'm afraid. Anyway, looking forward to seeing what your up to, I've always thought of you as being one of the most forward thinking of modellers.

  5. Julia, glad your continuing to blog on the internet as I have always been amazed and inspired by your work. I have found myself drifting away for RMW as the noise ratio has been getting a bit to much for me. I have been looking back over your blog there and am have enjoyed re-aquanting myself with so many great "things" Really must dig out my Nn3 Diesel kit :)

  7. Julia,
I don't know what has caused your decision to cease posting on RMweb (and I don't feel that I know you well enough to enquire), however I am glad that you will be keeping interested parties abreast of your modelling exploits on here. Your modelling is truly inspirational, and I look forward to seeing updates both on here and in the 2mm Magazine. Keep up the good work!
    Kind regards,
    Ian Smith

  8. Julia,

I for one will be following along here rather than in that other place. As others have said, your work is inspirational ... well, it's inspired me anyway ... and the world would be a lesser place if I couldn't get a regular fix on your activities!

  10. Hi Julia,
Just wanted to say that I'm very glad that you're at least keeping writing online as your work is highly inspirational to me and clearly many others. I'll be very happy happy to keep following you on here instead.
    Best regards,

  11. Hi Julia, well done for sticking it out over on RMW... and for providing this link so we can continue to follow your marvellous work. had it not been for what I think is an encroaching near-sighted vision problem, I think I'd drop from 4mmFS to 2mmFS too... as this and others' work has been inspirational. Please consider this blog as bookmarked... and maybe it's time I did something similar too.

  13. Hi Julia

There's an increasing amount of support and empathy around the 'Net for anyone who's walked away from that place, and for whatever the reason. I'm sure you won't look back.

  17. Hi Julia,

Just catching up with the changes - yes, weeks late! Thanks for posting. I have tended not to catch up with the latest as I don't frequent RM Web - dropped out ages ago and every time I dip my toe I remember why I dropped out!

As one of my modelling inspirations you have managed to also inspire me to get back to posting my efforts via my blog - although since I am writing this at work I won't be doing anything until later this evening.

    Cheers
